Abhijeet thanks to Indian Idol for his marriage

Favorite singer of India and first winner of reality show Indian Idol, Abhijeet Sawant wows Indian Idol format for his marriage with his long time friend Shilpa Edvankar. The couple gets married last December and Abhijeet gives the credit to Indian Idol.

Abhijeet and Shilpa were used to stay in the same society at Mahim, Mumbai. They were good friends, but when Abhijeet proposed Shilpa for the first time, she rejected the proposal.

After some time when Abhijeet auditioned for Indian Idol, things get changed. Shilpa started getting interest in Abhijeet. She was used to sit with him for long hours during the rehearsals and was always there to boost him. Abhijeet says that it was Indian Idol where they get closer.

However after winning the Indian Idol title, Abhijeet again proposed her and this time she had no reasons to reject him. Abhijeet created a huge rage amongst youngsters and had huge fan following due to the show. However, his marriage didn't stopped his fan following. He is still favorite to thousands of girls.

When asked about life after marriage, Abhijeet said, "It hasn't changed so much. The only difference is that now she is staying with my parents and me. Otherwise, we are still more like friends than husband and wife. Our parents are also happy."

This down to earth singer is also set to make his acting debut with film 'Lottery'. In the film he will play the role of an accountant. The film will release soon.
